Variations sur un Noël (Op. 20) by Marcel Dupre.

British-Australian organist and choral conductor Dr Joseph Nolan has been hailed by ABC Classic FM as ‘an extraordinary musician’ and BBC Radio 3 Record Review as ‘Magnificent’. A nominee for Artist of the Year, Limelight Magazine have also recently awarded Joseph their coveted Recording of the Month for his ninth disc for Signum Records from St Etienne du Mont, Paris, the church and organ of Maurice Durufle. This is the first time in the history of the magazine that an organ disc has been given this award. Very notably, Gramophone Magazine awarded the final disc in his Widor Cycle a critics choice for 2017.

Dr Nolan was invited to take up the position of Organist and Master of Music at St George’s Cathedral, Perth, Western Australia in 2008. Under Joseph’s leadership the Cathedral music programme has been described as ‘elite’ and ‘world class’ in The Australian and The West Australian newspapers. The Cathedral choirs have regularly performed for ABC Classic FM whilst the Cathedral Consort has performed with The Hilliard Ensemble, The Academy of Ancient Music and The King’s Singers.

Dr Joseph Nolan was made a Chevalier des Arts des Lettres by the French government for services to French music in 2016 and became an Honorary Fellow of the University of Western Australia in 2013. The University have recently awarded Joseph their prestigious higher doctorate, the Doctor of Letters.

Raise the roof

An opportunity to invest in a major Witney landmark

Severe winter frosts have destroyed the limestone slates on St Mary’s Roof. We need to replace them before winter sets in. Local Witney people have already sponsored 2,200 slates. Only 1,800 slates to go!!

Please Sponsor a Slate for £10. Your civic landmark church needs you!

Praying for victims of terror

'In the midst of life we are in death.'

Lord, in a place of pleasure, terror struck, in a place of life, death came. Hold us in our shock and grief, comfort the distressed, heal the injured, calm the anxious, reunite the separated, console the bereaved, and give rest and everlasting peace to those who have died, for your love never fails and through the darkness your light always shines. Amen.

Our stewardship enables us to fulfil God's call and share in God's mission

The Church is the new creation, it is life and joy, it is the sacramental fellowship in which we share the ultimate purpose of God, made real for us now in our hearing the Word and sharing the Sacrament.
